about

In occasion of the "I Open My eyes but darkness Stays" release, I want to offer the complete package of our song called ORRIDO. A song that I'm very proud of it, released officially 2 years ago but very actual. You could find in this EP the new acoustic reprise of Orrido, the original version, the instrumental remake with bass and guitar riff boosted and then the early demo.

The New acoustic version of Orrido was inspired by the sad situation of these days about CoronaVirus Pandemic. The cities in Italy have became "ghost towns", the stores and pubs are closed, parks are closed...and the streets seems deserts. So I grab my acoustic guitar to exorcise this situation and I record it to remember the sad mood, the silence that surround us and the fear in the air about this particular moment of history in the future, when all of this will finally end.

The song is a reprise of our pre-released song "ORRIDO", that evolves in a recall of another song by Alcest called "Le Miroir". Originally, the song Orrido, talks about this frenetic society and abuse of technology, so I picked up the main chords of this song because the socialization, the thousands things that humanity normally do in this millenium, and the frenetic run to be the one with more "likes" on social networks; is no more a priority, so this could be intended as a continuation of what I originally write in Orrido lyrics. Now we have to fight a bad situation, we are in a moment where we have to be responsible and disciplined to break our routines. In the end of the track, the final melody by Alcest represent the hope; the expectation and the waiting for all of this situation to come to an end and is intended as a sort of a "prayer" for the health of entire humanity.
